I have been fortunate enough to get myself involved with the 2015 Relay for Hope - it is a cross country Relay in support of AIDS/HIV research starting in St.John's, NF this month and finishing in Hope, BC in October of 2015.
Here are some images of my Nova Scotia panel that will become part of a much larger project including pieces from all the provinces and territories. It will then follow the runners across this great land!
I had a great time working on this and learned so incredibly much ...
Enjoy and many best wishes!

Group Of Eight Georgetown Trunk Show
I hope this finds everyone well … although we are still in the grip of winter here in southern Ontario, buried again by a late winter storm!
A few weeks ago, the Burlington Fibre Artists hosted a trunk show from the Group of Eight Fibre Artists based in Georgetown, ON and I took a few pictures that I know you will enjoy.
It was a wonderful evening full of inspiration, artists' talks, discussing of techniques and the sharing of stories - what could be better?
The Group of Eight was founded in 2006 by a few like-minded friends that were looking for a creative outlet for fibre work outside of the traditional quilting guilds. So, eight members were the basis of GOE which now has nine members. Please enjoy these photographs ~
The artists' of the GOE can be found at goegeorgetown.blogspot.ca or search the Group of Eight Fibre Artists with you favourite search engine. Please know that some of the photos may be details ~ not the full piece.
Very best wishes and thank you so much to the Group of Eight for joining us,
Barbara

Culture Days
In our town, in late September - we have something called Culture Days.
All art forms of the arts are celebrated …
The fibre arts group that I belong to in Oakville were invited to participate and here are some photographs that I have just come across while sorting things!
Enjoy … this includes work from a number of quilt and fibre artists that had their work available for Culture Days.
Many best wishes,
Barbara

Rebecca - a collaborative work
Well, you may look at the photos of my piece in progress and wonder how we came up with Rebecca?
This whole project with all of us has come about after a Call For Entry of tall tales and history of the Burlington Arts Centre ~ so Rebecca is a sculpture ... which looks nothing like a woman ~ but does have many lights and shadows, and also much negative space to work with.
As a group we decided to “move” Rebecca to a place where light and shadow is even more prevalent … this has not been without its challenges but I am sure the piece will come together to show Rebecca in her best light!
We all have strips of the finished composition which are about 6 or 7 inches wide but about 55” high. They will all hang side by side to form the larger composition.
This is my slice of Rebecca,
More pictures soon,
Very best wishes,
Barbara
