Clematis

in the garden ~ i waited patiently for this little guy to open. i love the anticipation of the springtime, checking to see what is happening, browsing the garden shops to fill my shopping bag with dreams and ideas ~ (and of course hoping that just the good bugs will come to visit this year)

starry nights together

here are the three together ~ and mostly i am thinking i didn't do a great job of photographing them. (the individual posts have the better light)
the finished peice is roughly 20" x 10" ~ i enjoyed the really dark parts and the really light parts.

Happy long weekend

just wanted to say happy long weekend, i hope you all have enjoyed an extra special extra day

My Starry Night, three

i have finished the third of this series and will post them all together soon, in this piece i was looking for the swirls of people passing by, coming and going. hope you like it!

My starry night, two

this is the second of this series, i was looking for the light and the swirls and the dark patches that i love about the painting. these squares are small but when finished and mounted together the finished piece will be about 20" w x 10" h.
the muslin is painted and then a thin layer of roving is laid down to add texture, the stitch adds movement and direction.

My starry night, one

this is a second set of three that i have begun ~ i was reading about Van Gogh a few weeks ago and when this started to come together, the colours began to remind me of one of my most beloved paintings ~ and so it goes

slow at finishing

these three peices are small ... and as expected, they go quickly at first, the paint and then the rovings, it all seems to progress well. and then they slow down a bit ... each stitch must be so deliberate and hopefully well placed. i sometimes get stuck on finishing somethings but these seem to be no trouble, just time.

second of three

this is the second of three small art quilts (will have the third soon!). This piece also felt of the ocean as well as a being a bit cosmic ~ i could almost see the tidepools filling and emptying and smell the salt air ...

starting

trying to get started can be tricky ~ sharing what is not normally shared

this is part of a grouping which has a very cosmic feel to me ~ it is about finding my voice and finding my place ~ where i might just maybe fit in
